I think it’s so sweet the way the “H” forms both the hat and frames the face and all is integrated into the name. I’ve been thinking about redesigning my logo and found this very inspirational.

Several months ago, Bruce and I spent a lovely afternoon with his Aunt Midge and Uncle Herb who live in Philadelphia. (Herb used to be called Buddy, up until 2 years ago, when he finally said he never liked that nickname and didn’t want anyone to use it anymore. He was 80 at the time and had been called Buddy his entire life! I guess it’s never too late to stand up for yourself!! But gosh, it’s hard to remember.) Midge and Herb are both artists – she’s a sculptor working mostly in marble, and he’s a painter. They are very inspirational to me, not only for their incredible bodies of work, but because neither started making art until they were well into their 30’s. They have never looked back. Their home is a joy to visit, filled with their art and the art of their dear friends – a lifetime of creativity. They are still very much in love with each other and in love with life – such a pleasure to spend time with. As an artist, Midge was always, and continues to be, quite stylish, and at one time she had a huge hat collection. She still has a few hats, which we all tried on that afternoon (including the guys) and they are still in their original hatboxes. Hilda was one milliner that Midge visited frequently, and had a custom hat made by her for every important occasion: weddings, bar & bat mitzvahs, art openings, etc. Atlantic City was a very different place then, not tacky like it is now, but stylish and sophisticated. I love thinking about that time, when women took such care in every aspect of the way they presented themselves. Midge still does, though she may be a bit more casual at times, but she never sacrifices style for comfort. I only hope that as I age, I remember to do the same.
